The Innovation Day 2017 took place on April 3rd, 2017 in the SANAA building in Essen. About 180 participants engaged in a diversified programme in a relaxed atmosphere. Ideas and products for tomorrow’s health care economy have been made perceptible on the central stage, in the trend corner, via virtual reality presentations and exhibitions.
The Innovation Day offered room and occasion for new contacts and interdisciplinary cooperation. Companies from the wide-ranging healthcare economy and creative scene, experts, young talents as well as start-ups got in contact with each other. The themes ‘connected companies, dynamic developments and cross innovations’ have also been part of the discussion with Garrelt Duin, minister for economy in North-Rhine Westphalia.

Highlight: the pitch finale

The highlight of the event was the pitch finale: ten nominees of the nationwide idea contest Innovation Call 2017 presented their ideas for the health care economy of tomorrow in front of the audience and a jury. The crowning highlight was the award ceremony:

The first place, endowed with 5,000 €, has been won by Physec Gmbh from Bochum. The Ruhr University spin-off wants to enable manufacturers to digitize every medical product with their product IoTree while at the same time ensuring data security.

Second (3,500 €) ranked the project Padisono, a mobile sonography device in the format of an Ipad.

The third place (1,500 €) went to the office geisendesign from Mülheim with its project Lifesaver. The idea behind this: an interactive bench which is supposed to free people from inhibitions with a heart massage.

The prize money of a total of 10,000 € has been donated by Initiativkreis Ruhr, phenox GmbH from Bochum and the Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH (BMR).
