Recklinghausen Blumenthal project

A location for the industries of the future

The last site has been redeveloped, the last digger has left. In early 2019 Recklinghausen council began marketing the new Recklinghausen Blumenthal business park. This constitutes one of the last attractive sites in the region. Advantages include on the one hand the strategically-favourable location between the A 2 and A 43 highways, on the other the high quality of living of the metropolis, with education, trading, services and culture. In addition, the new commercial estate also offers a data-redundant fibre optic network.

A total of 9 ha of commercial space is available on three neighbouring sections, the majority rehabilitated colliery land. The former winding house and heritage-listed locomotive shed provide attractive accents from the mining past that can also be used commercially. Recklinghausen Blumenthal is particularly well-suited to companies active beyond the region itself.

Blumenthal is aimed at the following sectors in particular:

·         Knowledge-intensive and corporate-proximate services, e.g. advertising agencies or architecture offices

·         Modern media productions, such as consumer electronics manufacturers, film producers or software developers

·         Research and development, such as companies in the field of economic, linguistic and agricultural research

·         Medical and biotechnology, for example nanobiology or the manufacture of medical devices

The sites:

The rehabilitated colliery site is the largest, at around 6 ha.

Formerly used for agricultural purposes, this 3 ha site is now ideal for manufacturing operations and warehousing.

The 7,600 m² site on the four-lane Kurt-Schumacher-Allee benefits from its central location. The main transport axis to the old town and A2 autobahn offers space for at least two companies.

The project is sponsored with funding from the state of NRW. As a consequence, the funding criteria of the state must be observed.
