Acting under the aegis of Innovation Bridge Israel, the Ruhr Metropolis aims to strengthen its relations and interaction with Israel and the start-up metropolis Tel Aviv. One pillar of the innovation bridge is the Innovation Scouting project.
In November 2017 Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH joined with AHK Israel in Tel Aviv in installing an Innovation Scout for companies of the Ruhr Metropolis. Currently involved are Rhenus Logistics, thyssenkrupp AG and Vonovia SE. On the municipal side, the EWG - Essen Business Development Corporation and Bochum Wirtschaftsentwicklung also participate in the project. The participating companies agree with the BMR on a sector or sub-sector for which the Innovation Scout analyses the Israeli market, identifying trends. In addition, the Innovation Scout also looks for interesting start-ups and technological solutions, identifies contacts and establishes initial contact with these. From November the housing company Vonovia SE will also be involved in the project.
For Rasmus C. Beck, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMR, this is a further step towards achieving the strategic linking of the two regions: “We have grown closer together over the last two years. The co-operation between Israeli start-ups and medium-sized and larger companies is both pioneering and in need of long-term consolidation. With the Innovation Bridge Israel we are establishing a link that is not only economically viable. We also consider ourselves committed to the long-term cultural and social linking of our countries.”
